My happiness is bought

every other week or so
with sweaters and skirts.

but sometimes I still feel a chill
from what my desires can’t fulfill—
there are items I can’t buy
to warm this lack of thrill. 

It’s cold.

I’m looking forward to spending it with you.
I’m happy I’m with you.
I’m blessed to even be near you.

I’m sharing the air with 
Someone who is sure about me.

Someone who respects me and
puts his energy to ensure that I can feel his love.

And for the first time, 
the crisp air that I’m breathing in isn’t bitter.

Instead, I’m warm.
